I wrote a Yuletide letter with a turkey feather Dipped in ink redder than blood Making all the wishes of my secret heart completely understood I took my Yuletide letter to the town's mail carrier I bet you never guess Where my note is going and don't even say "Old Saint Nick's address" I know the bearded man has so much on his plate And his elves and reindeer could really use a break So I wrote my letter to you all I want for Christmas are your Lips of cinnamon, eyes that win a man Smiles that steal a man's soul A whole lot of kissing 'neath the mistletoe till we forget it's cold Though I might dance with Peggy Sue, prance with Marylou Glance at women all night All I want this Christmas is to hold my true love tight mmm So when you get my letter, put on your sweater And brave the weather I know You're wishing for a warm-blooded man like me To guide you through the snow I'll be your Christmas honey now ain't that funny I ain't got money for gifts But if you want what I want darling just make me a list mmm

about

In October of 2005, Stephen Jerkins related to me about how a recent brush with Christmas lights had sparked a fervent desire to record both original and traditional songs of Yuletide. He invited me over to write some music, lit a cinnamon candle, plugged in lights, and put in It's a Wonderful Life. That night, as we alternated playing ideas on the guitar and organ and listening to recordings by Gene Autry, The Andrews Sisters and The Beach Boys, we allowed the beauty, joy and nostalgia of Christmastime permeate our minds. We wrote a song called "The Christmas Sweater" and recorded it in time for Christmas of 2005. Each year we add a song or two.
We hope you enjoy these selections and hope that they make you feel neighborly and warm this holiday season.
Cheer,
Cheyenne Medders
